DESCRIPTION: Demolition laborers/contractors
are involved in a wide variety of projects, including structural
demolition of buildings, interior gutting of offices, equipment
dismantling, and salvage and hazardous materials remediation.
Maintenance and Demolition Supervisors are responsible for
the coordination of demolition projects as well as trash hauling
and general clean-up of the company's construction sites,
overseeing demolition and personnel .
SKILLS:
Demolition laborers must be able to use small tools and specialized
equipment to operation of heavy construction machines; they
must be skilled in performing routine manual labor and know
how to select the tools and equipment needed to do a job.
They must be able to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators
to make sure a machine is working properly and be able to
repair machines or systems using the needed tools; they must
be able to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull,
or carry objects, as well as be able to use short bursts of
muscle force to propel oneself (as in jumping or sprinting),
or to throw an object.
